PageRank™ FAQ's:
What is considered to be a good link?
There are several factors to consider in determining if a link is a good link:
- The page from which the link originates should be a trusted page - the higher the PageRank™, the better. It is wise to look at the links linking to the originating page. Make sure they are relevant and from reputable sites. If not, the PageRank™ of the originating page may disappear overnight as Google is known to disregard bogus incoming links.
- The topic of the page from which the link originates should be very similar to the topic of your page. It is probably not a good link if the topic of the originating page is "Growth Hormone Treatment" and the topic of your page is "Chicago Cosmetic Dentist". This link is clearly off-topic - i.e. the Link Relevancy is bad.
- Ideally you should have an originating link from a page with very few other links. The more links coming off a page, the more diluted the PageRank will be that gets passed to your site.
